How to register for the competition:
To submit an entry for the competition please send an e-mail to comp@internationalwootzsociety.com with photos of your entry according to the instructions below, before December 13, 2025. Be aware that if you are not a society member a $15 USD processing fee will be required with your submission.
Payment can be made by Paypal to president@internationalwootzsociety.com
The judges for the competition are Jin Singh, Niko Hynninen and Jordan LaMothe. Their decision is final and no appeals will be permitted.
Wootz steel can be made or purchased.
You can purchase the wootz or by submitting for the competition you are declaring that it to be wootz or crucible steel. We won’t be elemental testing the steel to confirm it is wootz or not but it should resemble wootz steel. As the competition is being judged from photographs of your work alone, we will not be doing any elemental analysis or performance testing of your blades or items.

Non-member administration charge for entry is $15 US
Photograph Requirements:
High quality photos of the entry will be required, both of the finished item and several process photos.
- Ingot or billet shot
- Rough Forging
- Forging refinement
- After polishing and grinding
- After Etching
- Final finished product (full item and at least 5 close up pictures of different parts of the item) (we may ask for video or more photos)

1st Prize – $100 + Gold Medal
Runner up – Silver Medal
Best Wootz Edged Weapon – Sword, dagger, Knife…

Best Wootz Kitchen Knife – Quality kitchen cutting tool
1st Prize – $100 + Gold Medal

Best Non Bladed Wootz Object – Anything that can inventively be made from wootz steel
1st Prize – $100 + Gold Medal
Runner up – Silver Medal
Most Impressive Award – Single most outstanding object made from wootz steel
$500 + Gold Medal. (two gold medals and 500)
